For a second charger or several new appliances, provide the complete load list and the equipment settings you expect to use. Ask the electrician to assess service capacity and possible load management. Do not infer approval from an unused breaker position or a neighbor’s installation.

## Questions and answers

### Does an EV charger always require a service upgrade?

The answer depends on the existing service, other loads and proposed charging equipment. Ask for an assessment before assuming an upgrade is necessary or unnecessary. The electrician should explain capacity, any load-management approach and required approvals.
